It is with great enthusiasm that we share with you that Rita Yoe has been named the new Programs Coordinator at the Claggett Center.
Rita will be a member of the Claggett leadership team and serve year-round, full-time in this new, exciting position. Rita will oversee programming for both youth and adults at Claggett--from summer camp and mid-year programs for youth to men's and women's retreats for adults. The addition of this full-time, year round position honors the enthusiasm around and growth in programming seen over recent years. Rita is uniquely positioned to respond to that growth and shepherd all programs into a new phase in Claggett's history.
Rita has a rich history of camping at Claggett, having served as a Junior Counselor (2007-2009), Senior Counselor (2007-2014), Chaplain (2015-2017), and Assistant Camp Director (2018). Adding her years as a camper, summer 2018 was Rita's 21st summer at Claggett. Rita earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, concentrating in Human Development, from Roanoke College and has worked with children in youth in several capacities. Since 2014, she has served as Youth Missioner at Christ Church, Georgetown, in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. She served as Camp
Director for Camp EDOW (Diocese of Washington) for three years. In her spare time, Rita loves playing and singing folk music, knitting, and spending time with her beagle mix, DJ.
"I am passionate about camp and conference ministries because of the space they create for people of all ages to meet God in new ways--whether that's through their neighbors in community, through time spent in God's creation, through making art or conquering a challenge," shared Rita.
With Rita serving in the new Programs Coordinator position we grow in our ability to meet our mission in serving all people in spiritual renewal, growth, and learning through ministries of hospitality and programming.
Please join us in welcoming Rita Yoe to the Claggett staff leadership team.
Peace,
