Dear Friends of Claggett
For nearly 70 years, The Claggett Center has provided a peaceful environment where friendships are formed and relationships with God are developed, renewed, and strengthened. Today, as stewards of this special place, we are determined to build a stronger Claggett for generations to come. This spring, we are raising funds to renovate the historic Barn so the meeting, gathering, and dining spaces can accommodate multiple groups or large groups on campus at the same time.
We are initiating the next step in Raising the Barn, a $3,000,000 capital campaign, and we invite you to be a part of this exciting effort. We have already raised over 80% of our goal. Our incredible co-directors Lisa Marie and James Ryder have led the Board of Directors on a journey to preserve the historic nature of the most iconic building on campus. The project will create sacred space upstairs with modern accessible amenities, providing meeting room for 273 people and dining downstairs for 192. Now more groups can simultaneously gather doubling the operating revenue so that we can expand youth and adult programs at Claggett for years to come.
This is an outward and visible sign of the new strategic partnership between the Dioceses of Maryland and Washington. Together our partnership renews our commitment to the power of camp and retreat ministries as a beacon of growth, change, and hope in the church. The early success of the campaign is a result of the support of Bishop Budde and Bishop Sutton along with faithful generosity from a diverse, talented, and passionate group of lay leaders and clergy across both dioceses.
We hope you join us by prayerfully considering an inspirational pledge payable over the next five years. Please visit our website and social media (Instagram / Facebook) for a powerful video from our bishops and leaders. There are more photos of the project there as well. Then complete a pledge or make a gift online.
Through the Raising the Barn campaign, we will give back to the place that has given so much to us. Your generosity ensures The Claggett Center will continue to provide transformative experiences for youth and adults for years to come. This beloved place and the time our team has dedicated to this project has already made a meaningful impact on our lives this past year, and we are even more excited about what the future holds. God bless you and thank you again for your thoughtful consideration of our request as we move forward together.
Faithfully,
The Reverends Meg Ingalls and Stewart Lucas
