In celebration of the Raising the Barn Capital Campaign, all are warmly invited...
BARN BLESSING & ROGATION
Saturday, April 30, 2022
12:30 - 2:30 PM
Join us in celebrating the good news:
This spring, we are raising funds to renovate the historic Barn so the meeting, gathering, and dining spaces can accommodate multiple groups or large groups on campus at the same time.
We are initiating the next step in Raising the Barn, a $3,000,000 capital campaign.
We have already raised over 80% of our goal.
The project will create sacred space upstairs with modern accessible amenities, providing meeting room for 273 people and dining downstairs for 192.
This is an outward and visible sign of the new strategic partnership between the Dioceses of Maryland and Washington. Together our partnership renews our commitment to the power of camp and retreat ministries as a beacon of growth, change, and hope in the church.
The early success of the campaign is a result of the support of Bishop Budde and Bishop Sutton along with faithful generosity from a diverse, talented, and passionate group of lay leaders and clergy across both dioceses.
EVENT SCHEDULE: 12:30 PM - Picnic Lunch, Live Music, Games, Face Painting 2:00 PM - Barn Blessing & Rogation
What is Rogation? The term "rogation" comes from the Latin rogatio, “asking.” A rogation is a service where we ask for blessings. Rogations have historically been associated with the blessing of the fields at planting, where concregations processed around the church and blessed the surrounding fields reciting psalms and the litany. In the Episcopal Church, rogations have been associated with rural life, agriculture, fishing, and stewardship of creation.
